THIS IS A UNIVERSITY PREPARATORY PROGRAMME
Social Sciences Programme
Are you interested in how people and society work? Do you want to learn more about politics, media or psychology?
Video: Video briefly describing the Social Sciences Programme (Runtime: 5:15)
What you will learn in the Social Sciences Programme
You will learn about how individuals and society interact and how human living conditions have changed throughout history.
You will study the human being both as an individual, group member and member of society. You also study the structures, activities and functions of Swedish and foreign societies. You will reflect on issues regarding democracy, communication, ethics, gender, environment and power, taking economic, social and political aspects into account.
In the programme, you will develop a scientific approach in which you learn to determine whether assertions are based on facts and distinguish between the value of various types of sources. You search for, sort and process information using source-critical methods.
You will develop your ability to collaborate, be creative, work independently, take responsibility, see opportunities, take the initiative, and transform ideas into practical action.
I chose the Social Sciences Programme because it seemed the most interesting. It’s also a plus that the programme gives me numerous opportunities after graduation. I also think it’s fun to have elective courses where I have the opportunity to choose what I want to learn about.

Eligibility for studies after completing the programme
If you want to fulfil the specific entry requirements for a particular higher education programme, it is important to plan your studies. If you want to continue your studies, it is a good idea to speak with a study and career counsellor.
I would definitely say that the Social Sciences Programme provides a lot of opportunities. If you feel like you might not know what you want to do later in life, I think it’s the right programme to choose.
