What you will learn in the Heating, Water, Sanitation and Property Management Programme
In the Heating, Water, Sanitation and Property Management Programme, you will combine practical work, a focus on creative solutions, and the ability to plan various types of assignments. The work can take place both in business settings and in private homes.
In this programme, you will learn how to develop and care for buildings. You will learn how the systems that handle energy supply, water/wastewater, and heating, cooling and ventilation work, as well as how to build, assemble, trouble-shoot and fix them. You will also learn about how buildings can save energy and be sustainable from an environmental point of view.
You will learn about how the entire chain of work functions – from idea and planning to how to take care of a finished building so that it works well. You will also work with the areas around a property, learning to contribute to a pleasant environment and to preserving cultural environments and buildings.
You will hone your ability to plan, implement, document and quality-assure your work. You will practice treating customers in a professional way. You will also learn about the possibilities of running your own business and working independently and together with others, based on both new and proven methods.
The programme places significant emphasis on occupational health and safety issues, with the aim of preventing injuries at work and promoting good health.
This was the programme that would allow me to use my brain instead of just doing physical labour, although that’s also part of the work. Simply put, I wanted to be able to use my brain, think, and come up with my own tricks of the trade and ideas.

Learning in a Work Environment
Part of the education takes place at one or more workplaces. This is known as Learning in a Work Environment “APL”). You must be engaged in a minimum of 15 weeks of APL. This is an important element of your education. APL gives you experience and contacts that may be beneficial when you are looking for a job.
The most fun thing has been learning the theoretical stuff and then being able to put it into practice in real life and experiment a little.
