About other art and culture programmes

Engelska (ENG)

Art and culture programmes are post-secondary education and are run by independent (private) providers. These programmes are a separate form of education with their own structure and regulations. The Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education is responsible for them, even though they are not higher vocational education programmes.

You can study subjects such as dance, music, theatre, art, film, photography, fashion, graphic design, writing or crafts.

These are art and culture programmes

  • Programmes that prepare students for further studies at university college, such as art, music or theatre colleges.
  • Programmes that lead directly to a profession, such as dancer, designer or musical artist.
  • Courses that provide in-depth study or inspiration in a particular area, such as knitting, metalwork or folk dancing. These are intended to preserve or develop cultural heritage in some way.

Different types of programmes

There are both shorter and longer programmes. There are full-time, part-time and some distance learning programmes. The longer programmes are eligible for student grants and loans. The programmes charge tuition fees, and there may be additional costs for literature and other learning tools.

How the programmes are structured

All programmes have a syllabus that describes the content and structure of the programme. Read what applies to the programme you are interested in.
