For individuals with foreign qualifications

Have your education assessed

You can have your foreign upper secondary education assessed to see what it corresponds to in Sweden. You can use the assessment of your upper secondary education to find out whether you already meet the entry requirements or whether you need to supplement your education by taking one or more subjects before you can continue your studies.

If there are any requirements you do not meet, you can supplement your education

If there are any entry requirements that you do not meet, you can supplement your education in various ways, such as by taking the courses you need through municipal adult education (Komvux). Komvux is available in all municipalities. If you want to take courses through Komvux, please contact the municipality in which you are registered.

Specific entry requirements

In addition to general entry requirements, colleges and universities often have specific entry requirements linked to the content of the programme. These specific entry requirements are specified as courses or subject levels from the Swedish upper secondary school system.

To find out what specific entry requirements apply to the programme you are interested in, check under the headings “Förkunskapskrav” (Prerequisites) or “Behörighetskrav” (Entry requirements) on the website for the programme in question.

Documents required to apply for admission to a college or university

Which documents are required to prove your upper secondary education and whether these have to be translated vary from country to country. On its website antagning.se, the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) provides information for each country.
