Forest, Land and Animal Programme

The Forest, Land and Animal Programme is for anyone wanting to work with various tasks involving the use of natural resources.

After the programme, you will be able to work in agriculture, parks or gardens, for example. You can also work in forestry or in various types of environmental management in the countryside. If you are interested in animal husbandry, this programme is also suitable for you.

What you will learn in the programme

You will be given the opportunity to train and learn how to work with tasks in agriculture, forestry, horticulture or animal husbandry.
In the programme, you will learn about plants and animals and develop your knowledge of ecological relationships in nature.
You can learn, for example, how to manage gardens and parks. You can also learn about growing flowers and vegetables.
If you choose to work with animals, you will be given the opportunity to develop your knowledge of farm animals, horse husbandry or companion animals, for example.
You will learn how to use and maintain the tools and machinery you need to do your job.
The programme will train you to work with others and to interact and converse with different people.
Occupational health and safety issues are important in the programme to prevent work-related injuries and to ensure good health.

You will study theoretical subjects, such as Swedish, mathematics and English. You also learn through practical exercises.

You will practice and use the knowledge you gain on the programme in a workplace. This is called work-based learning (arbetsplatsförlagt lärande, APL).

Programme objectives

The programme objectives describe what you should be able to do once you have received an upper secondary school certificate after a certain national programme in the upper secondary school for pupils with intellectual disabilities.
