Different types of training programmes
There are different types of training programmes that have different purposes. The different training programmes are as following:
- labour market training
- study preparatory programmes at a folk high school
- preparatory training
- testing and skills mapping.
Labour market training
Labour market training is short vocational training in an occupation where there is a shortage of skilled workers.
Study preparatory programme at a folk high school
A study preparatory programme at a folk high school prepares and motivates the participant for studies at the compulsory and upper secondary school level.
Preparatory training, and testing and skills mapping
Preparatory training, and testing and skills mapping are preparatory and orientation programmes that prepare the participant for a job or to be able to participate in a training programme.
Who can take part in a training programme through the Swedish Public Employment Service?
If you are registered with the Swedish Public Employment Service as a jobseeker and fulfil the criteria set by the Public Employment Service, you can request training. The Public Employment Service will then assess whether the programme is suitable for you.
Duration of the training programme
The training programme usually lasts from a few weeks to six months, but in some cases it can be longer. The programme is full-time.
Different training providers
The training is provided by various training providers around the country on behalf of the Swedish Public Employment Service.
