THIS IS A HIGHER EDUCATION PREPARATORY PROGRAMME
Technology and Engineering Programme
Engelska (ENG)
Do you like to solve problems? Do you like to figure things out and analyse? This programme is for anyone who wants to work with technology and technical processes. The Technology and Engineering Programme is a three-year programme, with the option of taking a fourth year to become a certified upper secondary school engineer.
Video: This video provides a brief description of the Technology and Engineering Programme (time: 4:43 min)
What you will learn in the Technology and Engineering Programme
You develop your knowledge of technology, physics, chemistry and mathematics with a focus on technical processes. You learn to see the connections between the different parts when technology is developed and understand how technology development takes place in society. You will study both existing technologies and the development of new technologies.
Much of the learning done in the programme takes place in project work form. You seek and process information using methods that involve critically evaluating the source. The programme centres around practical assignments that you complete individually or in a group. You will train your ability to develop new and creative solutions and learn more about the possibilities of running your own business.
You will learn about different forms of technology and which solutions are suitable for different target groups and occasions. The programme also has a strong focus on sustainability.
You will learn to analyse, model, simulate, assess plausibility, develop, make connections, draw conclusions and argue for technical systems.
Diploma goals
The diploma goals describe what you should be capable of doing when you graduate from a particular upper secondary school programme.

Diploma project
At the end of the Engineering and Technology Programme, you will carry out a diploma project. This involves formulating a question, planning, executing and evaluating a major project based on important areas of knowledge in the programme.
Honours programme
When choosing a higher education preparatory programme, there are honours programmes available with nationwide recruitment. An honours programme in upper secondary school allows you to delve deeper into one or more subjects and take higher education courses.
After the programme
The programme lays the foundation for further studies in engineering and technology and in natural science at a higher education institution. You will also qualify for higher education studies in several areas.
Qualification for studies after the programme
Through the Technology and Engineering Programme, you will meet the general entry requirements for higher education studies. You will also have the option to choose additional subjects and levels to meet specific entry requirements for higher education.
It is important to plan your studies if you want to meet specific entry requirements for a particular higher education programme. We recommend that you talk to a study and vocational guidance counsellor if you want to continue your studies.
Use the “Behörighetsvisaren” (Qualification indicator) service to see which higher education programmes you may be eligible to apply for after the programme.
