Economics Programme

The Economics Programme is a higher education preparatory programme for anyone who wants to study social sciences, especially economics and law. The programme is also intended for individuals who want to learn how to start up, run and develop a business.

Video: This video provides a brief description of the Economics Programme (time: 4:52 min)

What you will learn in the Economics Programme

You will develop your knowledge of economics, business administration, business enterprise, law and psychology. You will study economic conditions in society, trade between countries, and the role and responsibilities of businesses in a globalised world. You will learn methods to solve business problems, and gain insight into the way people think, feel, act and interact with other people. You will learn about the importance of the legal system in a democratic society and how our legislation is influenced by international law. You will develop your ability to analyse and assess legal problems.

Through the programme, you will develop a scientific approach in which you learn to determine whether claims are based on facts, and to recognise the value of different types of sources. You will seek, sort and process information using methods that involve critically evaluating the source. You will be given socioeconomic, business administration and legal assignments to complete individually or in a group. Through the programme, you will develop your ability to reason from different perspectives, and to draw conclusions and argue your position based on key concepts, theories and models.
