Florist Programme
The Florist Programme is a vocational programme for anyone who wants to work as a florist. This is a nationwide recruitment programme, which means that pupils from all over the country can apply for admission to the programme on the same terms.

What you will learn in the Florist Programme
Among other things, you will learn how to create and design floral arrangements for different celebrations and purposes based on customer wishes. You will learn the names, characteristics and care of cut flowers and potted plants. You will also learn how to work at a professional level of quality, taking environmental, financial and safety aspects into account.
Using knowledge of colour, shape and composition, you will plan and carry out practical floristry work such as the creation of bouquets, decorations and arrangements. The programme provides knowledge of development opportunities for florists nationally and internationally, as well as professional examinations in the field of floristry.
The programme also emphasises communication skills in sales situations and the ability to work both independently and in a group. A creative service handicraft requires one to have a good ability to take initiative coupled with an understanding of changing needs, which is why the programme includes knowledge of entrepreneurship and good business practice.

Workplace-based learning
Parts of the programme take place at one or more workplaces for at least 15 weeks. This is known as workplace-based learning (arbetsplatsförlagt lärande, APL). This is an important element of the programme. APL gives you the opportunity to use the knowledge you gained through school and put it into practice. It gives you work experience and contacts you can use when looking for a job.
