THIS IS A HIGHER EDUCATION PREPARATORY PROGRAMME
Social Science Programme
Are you interested in how people and society work? Do you want to learn more about politics, media or psychology? Then the Social Science Programme could be for you.
Video: This video provides a brief description of the Social Science Programme (time: 5:15 min)
What you will learn in the Social Science Programme
You will learn about the interplay between the individual and society and how people's living conditions have changed throughout history.
You will study people as individuals, members of a group, and members of society. You will also study the societal structures, activities and functions of Sweden and other countries. You will reflect on issues of democracy, communication, ethics, gender, environment and power from economic, social and political perspectives.
Through the programme, you will develop a scientific approach in which you learn to determine whether claims are based on facts, and to recognise the value of different types of sources. You will seek, sort and process information using methods that involve critically evaluating the source.
You will develop your ability to work with others, be creative, work independently, take responsibility, recognise opportunities, take initiative and translate ideas into practical action.
I chose the Social Science Programme because that was the one that seemed the most interesting. It's also good that the programme gives me several options after graduation. I also think it's fun with my individual options, where I can choose what I like.
