VOCATIONAL PROGRAMME LEADING TO AN UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL VOCATIONAL DIPLOMA

Sales and Service Programme

Are you an outgoing and curious person who likes to meet new people? The Sales and Service Programme is aimed at people who are interested in sales, trade and communication.

Video: Video briefly describing the Sales and Service Programme (formerly the Trade and Administration Programme). Runtime: 4:52 min.

What you will learn in the Sales and Service Programme

You will get to develop your ability to interact with people - both customers and colleagues. You will learn about sales, purchasing, the flow of goods, logistics, marketing, products, industries and business development.

The programme places significant emphasis on occupational health and safety issues, with the aim of preventing injuries at work and promoting good health.

In the programme, you will hone your ability to interact with people and develop relationships with business contacts and employees. You will practice searching for, analysing and evaluating information, as well as how to take responsibility and exercise good judgment.

You will often work in project form, honing your ability to be active and enterprising. You will prepare yourself for continued learning in working life.

You can choose advanced courses where you will learn about administrative and organisational work in companies and public administration, financial follow-up, communication, customer service, and conference and reception work.

I chose the programme because it provides such great opportunities. When the time came for me to apply for an upper secondary school programme, I didn’t know what I wanted to work with yet. When I found out that this programme would give me a straightforward vocational education as well as the opportunity to continue my studies, it seemed like an obvious choice because it left so many doors open.

Specialisations

The Sales and Service Programme does not have any specialisations.

Diploma project

At the end of the Sales and Service Programme, you must complete a diploma project in your chosen professional field in which you show evidence that you have the knowledge necessary to start working in the area in which you have received your education.

Learning in a Work Environment

Parts of the educational programme are conducted at one or more workplaces and lasts for a period of at least 15 weeks. These elements are called Learning in a Work Environment (“APL”). This is an important element of your education. APL gives you experience and contacts that may be beneficial when you are looking for a job.

Through your APL in the Sales and Service Programme, you will learn how to apply what you have read about in school. You get to use what you have learned in working life and meet new people.

Apprenticeships

If your school offers upper secondary school apprenticeships within the framework of the programme, you can choose to take advantage of this opportunity. This means that you gain the same knowledge but carry out at least half of your studies in one or more workplaces.

Eligibility to continue your studies after graduation

Do you want to continue your studies at a university or other higher education institution after completing the programme? This programme provides you with the general entry requirements for studying at an institution of higher education. After completing the programme, you also have the opportunity to continue your education at a polytechnic or independent adult education college (folkhögskola).

When I applied for the programme, I just knew that I wanted to work with people, because I’m a very social person. Now I plan to work for a year after graduation and then I want to study to become a freight forwarder.
